Our investment casting process ensures exceptional dimensional accuracy, superior surface finish, and excellent mechanical properties. Unlike sand casting, investment casting produces near-net-shape components with minimal machining requirements, reducing overall cost and lead time.
All our ball valve bodies are custom manufactured based on customer drawings or samples. We work closely with our clients' engineering teams to optimize designs for castability, ensuring high-quality, defect-free castings at competitive prices.
We offer a wide range of stainless steel and specialty alloy materials for ball valve body castings:
| Material Grade | Equivalent Standards | Key Properties | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| CF8M | AISI 316, EN 1.4408 | Excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties | Chemical processing, marine, food & beverage |
| CF8 | AISI 304, EN 1.4308 | Good corrosion resistance, excellent formability | Water treatment, general industrial, HVAC |
| CF3M | AISI 316L, EN 1.4409 | Low carbon, improved weldability, intergranular corrosion resistance | Welded assemblies, corrosive environments |
| CF3 | AISI 304L, EN 1.4309 | Low carbon, improved weldability | Welded structures, general service |
| CD4MCu | Duplex 2205, EN 1.4470 | High strength, excellent pitting/crevice corrosion resistance | Oil & gas, chemical, marine, desalination |
| Alloy 20 | CN7M, EN 2.4660 | Superior acid resistance, especially sulfuric acid | Chemical processing, acid handling |
| Hastelloy C276 | CW-12MW, EN 2.4819 | Exceptional corrosion resistance in harsh environments | Chemical, petrochemical, flue gas desulfurization |
We produce high-precision wax patterns using injection molding. The wax patterns are exact replicas of the final valve body, including all internal passages and external features. Multiple patterns are assembled onto a central sprue to form a pattern tree.
The pattern tree is repeatedly dipped into ceramic slurry and coated with refractory sand. This process is repeated 6-8 times to build a strong, heat-resistant ceramic shell. Each layer is carefully dried to ensure shell integrity.
The ceramic shell is placed in an autoclave where steam melts the wax, which drains out â?hence the term "lost-wax casting." The empty shell is then preheated to 1000-1100°C to remove residual moisture and strengthen the mold.
Stainless steel is melted in induction furnaces under carefully controlled conditions. The molten metal is poured into the preheated ceramic shells. We use both gravity pouring and vacuum pouring depending on the alloy and part complexity.
After solidification and cooling, the ceramic shell is removed by mechanical vibration and blasting. The individual valve bodies are then cut from the sprue using band saws or grinding wheels.
All stainless steel castings undergo solution annealing heat treatment to achieve optimal mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Typical heat treatment for CF8M/CF8 is 1050-1100°C solution treatment followed by rapid quenching.
The cast valve bodies are precision machined on CNC lathes and machining centers. Machining operations include flange facing, seat pocket machining, threading, drilling, and tapping. We maintain tight tolerances of ±0.02mm on critical dimensions.
Finished valve bodies undergo surface treatment (sandblasting, polishing, or coating) and comprehensive quality testing including dimensional inspection, pressure testing, chemical analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
We maintain rigorous quality control at every stage of production to ensure that every ball valve body meets or exceeds customer specifications:

Design with minimum 1° draft angle for external surfaces and 1.5° for internal surfaces to facilitate wax pattern removal from the die and ceramic shell breakdown.
Ensure adequate material around seat pockets and threaded ports for machining allowance. Recommended machining allowance: 2-3mm per surface for CNC operations.
Flange faces should be designed with sufficient thickness to allow for facing operations while maintaining pressure rating integrity. Consider post-cast heat treatment before machining.
